Dedicated to improving the lives of women through research

Kristen Larsen low-grade serous ovarian cancer

Low-grade serous (LGS) ovarian cancer is a rarer subtype that disproportionately affects younger women. With current treatments over 85% of women will have their cancer come back.

We support research to help women live longer. And empower women through access to support and information.

  4. TOWNSVILLE GENERAL HOSPITAL PAST GRADUATES ASSOCIATION (Brisbane Branch)

    $500.00
The granddaughter of our oldest member, Julia Larsen, succumbed to this disease. Diagnosed at age twenty-one, Kristen was twenty-seven when she died. Julia was one hundred years old when she died very recently. She trained at Townsville General Hospital (now Townsville University Hospital) during World War 2. Julia loved nursing and throughout her life returned to nursing whenever she could. She was a cherished member of our branch – an artist, very alert and kindness personified – a role model for us all. This donation is made in her granddaughter Kristen Larsen’s memory
