Cure Our Ovarian Cancer is Celebrating GivingTuesday in Canada with #GivingCuresDay joining millions around the world participating in the global generosity movement
Most people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday … now we have GivingTuesday, December 3, 2019. It is a new global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. Every year, on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day, and touches every person on the planet.
This year we are asking for your help to give back to women affected by low-grade serous carcinoma by donating, fundraising and showing your support for Cure Our Ovarian Cancer.
Today, Wednesday the 19th of November, we start our most ambitious fundraising goal yet. To raise $40 000 CAD globally for research over three weeks.
For women with low-grade serous carcinoma, time is the most precious gift. The donations we receive help fund research to find better treatments to help women keep living their best life with the people they love.
For $40 000 we could:
Grow and genetically sequence 10 unique cancer cell lines, which can be copied and shared for research projects around the world.
Fund a scientist’s salary for six months.
Test the cancer killing efficacy of 30 different drugs on a cancer model in the lab.
Fund a unique research grant.
Discover something important that will seed a change in the way every woman is treated in the future.
“Giving Tuesday is a global celebration of generosity: a dedicated day of the year when people donate their time, goods, or dollars, or the power of their voice to charities, causes and community groups,” said GivingTuesday director Cathy Truong.
People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. You can create a fundraiser, hold an event, ask friends for support. You could donate to lifesaving research. Or you could show your support by sharing our social media posts, telling your friends why you think what we do is important, or having a conversation with someone about the symptoms of ovarian cancer. Every act of generosity counts.
We’ve prepared a poster and a few of our favourite recipes to help you host a WorkplaceTeal Tea fundraiser for #GivingCuresDay.
In Canada giving Tuesday has over 6500 partners. In 2018 an estimated 6 million Canadians completed an act of generosity to help their favourite causes for Giving Tuesday.
Help us create a better future for women with low-grade serous ovarian cancer.
