The ovarian cancer research team at the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre perform clinical and laboratory research in order to improve our understanding of ovarian cancer and maximise survival for patients. One of their main areas of interest is low-grade serous ovarian cancer. They led the UK component of the LOGS study of trametinib in low grade serous ovarian cancer and are collaborating with researchers in Canada, the USA, the Netherlands and Australia in order to better understand the biology of the disease.
Their immediate priority is to screen a large number of drugs for their ability to kill low grade serous ovarian cancer cells growing in the lab. They will then use the results from this work to guide the design of the next generation of clinical trials for women in the UK and abroad.
